The Weir House

The Weir House sits on the bank of the Wye, where it flows into the gorge in the tiny but popular hamlet of Symonds Yat East; the Wye Valley Walk uses the Hand Pulled Ferry operated by the Saracens Head Inn (which is next door). The Sustrans Peregrine Trail offers traffic free, flat, riverside cycling to Monmouth from the door.

There are four bedrooms; a double en-suite, a twin en-suite and two further double rooms. All bedrooms have an uninterrupted view of the glorious River Wye. There are also two further bath/shower rooms.

There is also a separate bathroom with a shower over bath. Downstairs is a sitting room with TV, log burner, and patio doors onto a private riverside terrace with furniture. Parking is free, directly in front of the house.

The kitchen and eating area are very socially open plan, and there is a separate snug/lounge with sofas and a large TV. Both the kitchen and the snug open onto a partially covered, sunny riverside patio. There is free Wi-Fi throughout.

The Weir House sleeps up to 8 people over three floors. We do allow children over to stay here but they will require supervision.

Regretfully we do not allow pets to stay, and it is a strictly no smoking property (that includes hanging out of a window). We do ask guests to respect the environment and other residents in the valley, so ask for quiet after 10.30pm.

The Weir House is available to book through Bolthole Retreats, www.boltholeretreats.co.uk, and is currently to be found in the Forest of Dean region. Booking is quick and easy.

  • Great for multi-generational groups/families.
  • Regretfully no Stag or Hen parties, or single sex groups.
  • Pet free property.
  • Great place to stay to explore The Forest of Dean, Brecon Beacons, South Wales and Herefordshire.
